Hi, I’m Abi.
As a Clinical Sports Therapist and Pilates Instructor, it’s my priority to provide my clients with the knowledge and tools (backed by science) to enable you to take control of your health and wellbeing.
When it comes to Pilates I take a modern approach to this timeless method and ensure that you understand why you are performing certain exercises and how they actually benefit you. My goal is to make every session fun, challenging and purposeful.
Who Am I?
Formally, I am a Level 5 Clinical Sports Therapist and Pilates instructor. For the past 12 years I have been obsessed with the human body and movement, and pride myself on my extensive knowledge in this area.
At home, I am a dog mum, casual runner, and lover of strength training. I love my home comforts but also crave travel and adventure.
I wasn’t overly active when I was younger, however I loved dancing and did Ballet and Contemporary until I was 18. I first discovered Pilates at the age of 16 after a horse-riding accident left me with debilitating back pain.
At 18, I found the gym, and more importantly the weights room and I was hooked.
In 2012 I qualified in holistic therapies and fitness instructing which began a lifelong journey to educate myself on the science and methodology on how the body functions efficiently and effectively.
A change of circumstances led me down the path of a corporate career and subsequently two musculoskeletal injuries which had a significant impact on my overall health.
Sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day coupled with a high-pressure job and minimal time/desire to exercise triggered me to return to the industry I was most passionate about.
I initially retrained in Sports Massage Therapy, Personal Training and Pilates and then went on to complete my Level 5 diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy.
In 2018 I launched Optimal Health with the desire to help others prevent getting injured and to help those in pain get back to optimal health safely and quickly.
Through my own experiences, I have a special interest in treating back, hip and shoulder pain.
